Returns & Refunds

We hope you love your purchase, but if something isn’t quite right, we’re happy to help.

To arrange a return, exchange, refund or credit note, please email us at hello@ashortstory.co.uk with your order number and the item(s) you’d like to return.

Returning an Item

Items must be returned within 30 days of receiving your order and should be:

  • Unused and unworn
  • In their original condition
  • Returned in the original packaging (or similar protective packaging)

Please note that, for hygiene reasons, we cannot accept returns of earrings unless they are faulty.

Unless your item is faulty or incorrect, original shipping costs are non-refundable and return postage costs are the responsibility of the customer.

We recommend using a tracked delivery service or obtaining proof of postage, as returned parcels remain your responsibility until they reach us.

Please include your:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Order number

with your return.

Refunds & Exchanges

Once we receive your return, we aim to process refunds or exchanges within 7 days.

Refunds will be issued to your original payment method:

  • Card payments are usually visible within 5 working days
  • PayPal payments will be refunded back to your PayPal account

Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Items

We’re very sorry if your order arrives damaged, faulty or not as described.

Please email hello@ashortstory.co.uk with:

  • Your order number
  • A photo showing the issue
  • A brief description of the fault or damage

We will happily arrange a refund, repair or replacement at no additional cost, in line with your legal rights.

An item is considered faulty if:

  • It arrives damaged, or
  • A fault develops within 6 months of purchase

If your item is confirmed as faulty, damaged or incorrect, we will also reimburse your return postage costs.


Cancelling an Order

Under UK consumer law, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason.

Please note: for hygiene reasons, this cancellation right does not apply once sealed jewellery packaging has been opened.

If your order was delivered in multiple shipments, the 14-day cancellation period begins from the date the final item is received.

To cancel your order, please email hello@ashortstory.co.uk before the cancellation period ends, including:

  • Your name
  • Address
  • Order details

If you cancel your order, the jewellery must be returned to us within 14 days of notifying us. Return postage costs are the responsibility of the customer.

Cancellation Refunds

Once your return is received — or you provide proof that it has been sent back — your refund will be processed within 14 days.

We will refund:

  • The full cost of the item(s)
  • Standard delivery costs (up to the cost of our least expensive delivery option)

Refunds will be made using your original payment method unless otherwise agreed.

We may reduce the refund amount if the jewellery shows signs of unnecessary handling or use beyond what would reasonably be expected when inspecting the item.
